Welcome to Bubbles and Blisters: The Dyshidrotic Eczema Blog!

I put together this blog because I wish I'd had something similar when I began my own dyshidrotic eczema journey.  Whether you call it dyshidrosis, pompholyx, vesicular hand and foot dermatitis or just OMG WHAT IS THAT?! here you'll find my story, what I do to keep my flares at bay, links to medical articles and research, curated videos from physicians and other DE sufferers as well as links to products I use and books that have helped me.

I have no idea if what works for me will work for you.  The more you learn about dyshidrotic eczema and the people it affects, the more you realize it is a disorder with many causes and equally as many solutions.

I do believe that once you find the triggers causing your DE -- and they are many and varied -- then you will be best armed with how to eliminate, avoid or ameliorate them.  I am fortunate to no longer need prescription drugs to manage my condition.  I use Benadryl to manage the allergies that trigger my DE, but my real weapons to keep outbreaks away are:

  • A strict diet that eliminates my DE triggers (for me it's lacto-paleo, grain-free, low cobalt, low nickel but it might be something else for you)
  • Ample amounts of self-care, sleep and techniques to manage stress
  • Daily use of natural skin care products

For me, it's that simple.  No prescription alone was able to stop the cycle, but deducing the root causes and carefully tending to my skin's needs halted my dyshidrotic eczema in its tracks.

I hope this blog offers you a jumping off place to solve your own dyshidrotic eczema mystery.

I will add any news or information as I come across it.  I want this to remain an evergreen source of information for others with DE.

I won't collect your email (you can even comment anonymously) and I won't try to hard sell you anything.  You don't have to click any Like buttons or subscribe to any newsletters.  I am an Amazon Affiliate, however, so if you click on one of my recommended products or books and make a purchase, I'll get a small commission from the sale at no extra cost to you.  Thanks in advance if you do and hey, no problem if you don't!  My goal is to freely share info and inspiration.

I am also building a Message Board community where people can share their stories, connect with others and offer hope.  Right now it's just a simple comment page but I will be happy to add a fully functional forum is there is interest.

Here's to managing this confounding condition!
